Scott Porter

Matthew Scott Porter was born on May 24, 1979, in Omaha, Nebraska. He grew up in Winter Park, Florida, and attended Lake Howell High School, where he played wide receiver on the football team. While studying at the University of Central Florida, Porter was involved in an a cappella vocal group called 4:2:Five. His early career included stage work, notably playing Matthew in the original Off-Broadway production of “Altar Boyz” in 2004, and a temporary role as Casey Hughes in the soap opera “As the World Turns” in 2006. These early experiences established a foundation for his subsequent work in both live-action and voice acting roles, setting the stage for a diverse career in entertainment.

Porter gained recognition for his role as Jason Street in the NBC television drama “Friday Night Lights,” appearing in 42 episodes from 2006 to 2010. During this period, he also expanded into film, featuring in “Music and Lyrics” (2007) and the action film “Speed Racer” (2008), where he played the young Rex Racer. His musical abilities were showcased in the 2009 film “Bandslam,” where he performed several songs, including “Pretend,” which was featured on the soundtrack. In 2010, Porter demonstrated his versatility by taking on the role of Blake Calamar, a law firm investigator, in 14 episodes of CBS’ legal drama “The Good Wife.” This progression highlighted his ability to adapt to different genres and character types.

His career continued with significant roles, including George Tucker in The CW comedy-drama series “Hart of Dixie” from 2011 to 2015. Porter also became a prominent voice actor for various comic book and video game projects, such as “Marvel Anime,” “Harley Quinn,” and “Batman: Arkham Knight.” Notable voice roles include Luke in “The Walking Dead: Season Two” (2013), Lukas in “Minecraft Story Mode,” and Heimdall in “God of War: Ragnarök” (2022). More recently, he has starred as Mayor Paul Randolph in the Netflix series “Ginny & Georgia” since 2021 and competed as ‘Gumball’ in “The Masked Singer” in 2024, finishing as the runner-up. Porter’s ongoing work in both live-action and voice acting demonstrates a consistent engagement across multiple entertainment platforms.
