Charlie Kerr

Charlie Kerr is a Canadian actor, musician, and playwright. He developed an early interest in film, particularly the original Star Wars series, and later cited films like “Reservoir Dogs” and “The Departed” as significant influences on his decision to pursue acting. He undertook formal acting training with independent teachers like Lori Triolo, and at established institutions including the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City, and the Acting for Stage and Screen program at Capilano College in Vancouver. He also honed his skills at the Railtown Actor’s Studio in Vancouver with John Cassini and Kate Twa. His first theatrical role in acting school was as Bobby in David Mamet’s play “American Buffalo.”

In 2016, Kerr gained recognition from Variety Magazine as “A star to watch” following successful runs at film festivals for two of his movies. His notable acting credits include the role of Jory in the 2016 film “Lost Solace” and as the Rebel Commander in “An American Dream: The Education of William Bowman,” released in the same year. He has also appeared in television series such as “Jann” (2021) for five episodes as Nate, “Supernatural” (2020) as Vampire #1, “The Magicians” (2020) as Dmitri, “iZombie” (2019) as Jerry Halloway, and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” (2019) as Judas Society Boy #3. In addition to acting, Kerr is a co-founder of the Blood Pact Theatre Company, which produced critically acclaimed plays like ‘Kill Your Parents in Viking, Alberta’ (2016) and ‘After Wrestling’ (2018) in Toronto, the latter of which he also co-wrote and starred in.

Beyond his acting and playwriting endeavors, Charlie Kerr is also known as the lead singer and lyricist for the alternative rock band Hotel Mira. His musical career began early, with his first club performance in a Beatles cover band at the age of 11. Under his leadership, Hotel Mira has released albums such as “Perfectionism” (2020), “I Am Not Myself” (2023), and “Pity Party” (2025), along with several EPs and singles. He describes the band’s music as storytelling, influenced by his background in acting and playwriting. Kerr has also taken on producer roles, notably as an executive producer for “Riceboy Sleeps” (2022) and the upcoming film “Thanks to the Hard Work of the Elephants” (2025), and as a writer for the short film “Family Comes First” (2022).
