Scott Baio

Scott Vincent James Baio was born on September 22, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York. His parents, Mario and Rose Baio, were Italian immigrants. At the age of nine, Scott expressed an interest in acting, leading his parents to secure him auditions for commercials. His earliest significant role came in 1976 when he was cast as the lead in the musical film “Bugsy Malone,” outcompeting 2,000 other child actors. The following year, his profile significantly increased after being selected for the role of Chachi Arcola, The Fonz’s cousin, on the ABC sitcom “Happy Days.” His family relocated to Hollywood to support his burgeoning career. Throughout his tenure on “Happy Days” from 1977 to 1984, Baio also made appearances in several other films and television projects, notably “Skatetown U.S.A.” (1979), “Foxes” (1980), and “Zapped!” (1982). This period established him as a prominent teen idol.

Following “Happy Days,” Scott Baio moved to CBS in 1984 to star in the sitcom “Charles in Charge,” playing a college student working as a caretaker for three children. After its initial season, the series transitioned to first-run syndication, where it continued successfully until 1990. Post-“Charles in Charge,” Baio maintained a consistent career, taking on starring roles in television series like “Baby Talk” (1991) and “Diagnosis Murder” (1993), and guest appearances in shows such as “Veronica’s Closet” (1997) and “Arrested Development” (2003). He expanded his professional scope by directing episodes for series including “The Wayans Bros.” (1995) and “Unhappily Ever After” (1995), demonstrating a diverse engagement within the entertainment industry.

His career also includes reality television appearances, such as the VH1 series “Scott Baio Is 45… And Single” (2007), which explored his personal life and relationships. This show led to the announcement of his girlfriend Renee’s pregnancy, and they later welcomed their daughter, Bailey DeLuca, in November 2007. Baio has also been involved in executive production, notably for the Nick at Nite sitcom “See Dad Run” from 2012 to 2014, where he also starred.
