Chase Headley

Chase Headley is a former professional baseball third baseman known for his distinguished career with the San Diego Padres and New York Yankees, earning both Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Awards. After earning Academic All-America honors and helping lead the University of Tennessee Volunteers to the 2005 College World Series, Chase Headley was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the second round of the 2005 MLB draft. Headley quickly ascended through the minor league system, making stops with the Eugene Emeralds, Lake Elsinore Storm, and the San Antonio Missions, where his standout performance earned him recognition as the 2007 Texas League Player of the Year. His consistent talent led to his Major League Baseball debut with the San Diego Padres on June 15, 2007.

In July 2014, Headley was traded to the New York Yankees, where he made an immediate impact by driving in the winning run with a walk-off single in his debut game. His valuable contributions were recognized with a four-year, $52 million contract secured in December 2014. Throughout his successful tenure with the Yankees, Headley achieved his 1,000th career hit and his 100th career home run in 2015. He consistently demonstrated versatility on the field, adeptly playing at third base, first base, and designated hitter, and frequently delivered game-tying or go-ahead home runs in crucial moments.

After several impactful seasons, Headley returned to the Padres in 2018, concluding a distinguished professional playing career marked by consistent performance and leadership.
