In the world of Instagram fame Chaz Smith is a shining star. Smith, a natural born comedian, was able to showcase his talents on the once popular app, Vine. Known for his hilarious laugh-invoking video content, Smith posted his breakthrough Vine in 2013, around the beginning of summer: a “watermelon inside of a watermelon.” This short video went viral by the end of August. His lovable personality, funny content, and witty humor helped him to build a huge and devoted following. Smith earned over 460,000 followers on Vine before the application was discontinued, but the end of the Vine era did not stop him. He currently has more than 600,000 followers on his Instagram account, where the comedian continues to regularly post humorous content for his loyal fans.

Smith, although a self-proclaimed “silly” character, has an Ivy League background. The young Instagram star attended the widely respected collegiate institution, the University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in Cinema Studies with hopes of a career in video production. It’s no wonder that he seems to effortlessly produce engaging content over social media. Smith advises people who are trying to rise to social media fame to be silly: “to be successful on Vine, you have to be extremely outgoing or extremely witty,” Smith said.
