Professional rugby player Cheslin Kolbe has represented his home country of South Africa at an international level, and plays for French team Toulouse.
Kolbe’s career started at the youth level, when he represented Western Province for many years. He played in competitions including the Under 16 Grant Khomo Week in 2009, and the Under 21 Provincial Championship in 2012. He also played for his high school team while still studying. Junior international appearances soon followed, as Kolbe was chosen to play for the South Africa Sevens team between 2012 and 2017, as well as the South Africa Under 20 side. In 2013 he was included in the squad for the IRB Junior World Championship, which led to him being spotted and signed to represent Western Province for the next three years. Kolbe played in the Vodacom Cup for the team, and helped them to win the 2014 Currie Cup title.
In 2016, Kolbe represented his country at the Rio De Janeiro Olympic Games, being named as part of the 12 man squad for the competition. The following year, he moved to France to play for Toulouse, and compete in the Top 14 competition. He played for just one season for the side before being called up to represent South Africa once again in the 2018 Rugby Championship, in what would be his international debut. Most recently Kolbe has returned to the French team, and continues to cement his reputation there.
