Chris Weinke

Chris Weinke has transitioned from a decorated college football career, including a Heisman Trophy win, to a multi-team NFL quarterback, and now serves as an assistant head coach and co-offensive coordinator in college football. After quarterbacking Florida State University to an undefeated national championship in 1999 and earning the Heisman Trophy in 2000, Chris Weinke forged a distinguished career spanning professional baseball, the NFL, and collegiate coaching. He began with a professional baseball career, drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1990. Weinke played in the Blue Jays’ minor league system from 1990 to 1996, leading the Class A Florida State League in RBIs in 1993 and the Class AA Southern League in RBIs in 1994.

Transitioning to collegiate football, Weinke enrolled at Florida State University in 1997. As a sophomore in 1998, he guided the Seminoles to a 9-1 record and a No. 2 national ranking. The following year, in 1999, Weinke spearheaded the team to an undefeated national championship, clinching victory against Virginia Tech in the BCS title game, throwing for 3,103 yards and 25 touchdowns.

Weinke, a two-time ACC All-Academic Team selection, also earned a degree in Sports Management. He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the fourth round of the 2001 NFL Draft, playing until 2006 before concluding his NFL playing career with the San Francisco 49ers in 2007.
