Canadian actress Christina Cox is best known for her roles in series such as F/X, Defying Gravity, and Blood Ties. She also appeared in the 2004 movie, The Chronicles of Riddick. Her performances as Angie Ramirez in F/X won her a Gemini Award in 1998. She has also worked as a stuntwoman and was Hilary Swank’s boxing stunt double in the box-office smash hit movie Million Dollar Baby. She has also appeared in national theatre productions such as Road and Twelfth Night.
Cox was born in Toronto but is of Jamaican heritage. As well as training as a professional actor, Cox was a keen sportsperson growing up and is trained in boxing, kickboxing, and fencing among other sports. She could have trained to become an Olympic gymnast but instead decided to focus on her acting (although her sporting prowess has come in handy for stunt work over the years). She made her television debut in the early 1990s, appearing in Canadian series such as Forever Knight, Due South, and Catwalk. She landed the role of Angie in F/X: The Series (a spin-off of the hit movie) in 1996 and played her for two seasons. In 1999, she co-starred in Better than Chocolate, a rom-com that was voted one of the best indie films of the year by The Hollywood Reporter.
More recently, Cox has focused on her work as a multi-disciplinary artist, commercial director, and commercial photographer, working with the likes of Subaru, Nespresso, and many others.
