Christof Innerhofer is an Italian World Cup alpine ski racer who won the world championship in the super-G event in 2011. He is an expert in the speed events of downhill and super-G, though he has participated in all five of the alpine disciplines.
Innerhofer was born on December 17, 1984. He was born in Bruneck, although he currently resides in Gais, which is located in South Tyrol. He competed in his first World Cup event in November 2006, when he was just 21 years old, and won his first race, a downhill competition held in Bormio in December 2008. Innerhofer earned a medal of every colour at the World Championships that were held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, in 2011. He won the gold medal in the super-G competition, the silver medal in the super combined competition, and the bronze medal in the downhill competition.
After winning the World Championships, Innerhofer went on to win the super combined event at the 2011 World Cup race that was held in Bansko, Bulgaria. The event was unusual in that the slalom leg was done first, in expectation of fog; and the afternoon speed run was a super-G, rather than a downhill. Both of these decisions were made in preparation of the possibility of fog. Innerhofer keeps up with his fans on Instagram, where he boasts more than 100,000 followers.
