Christopher Backus

Christopher Paul Backus was born on October 30, 1981, in Orange County, California, and grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. He began his acting career at 17, making his television debut in NBC’s “Will & Grace.” He then secured roles in “The O.C.” and “Life on Mars.” In 2003, Backus moved from New York City to Los Angeles with Rob McElhenney, where he quickly landed his first film role in “Benjamin Splits.” His early career included supporting parts in “Will & Grace” and “The O.C.,” and a starring role opposite Dominique Swain in Nick Vallelonga’s “All In.”

His career advanced with notable appearances in several television series, including “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” as Bobby in 2011, “Sons of Anarchy” as Adam ‘Greensleeves’ Greenblatt in 2014, and “The Mentalist” as Vincent in 2012. Backus also played significant roles in “Mindhunter” as Tex Watson in 2019 and “Jett” as Bennie (credited as Chris Backus) in 2019. In film, he took on roles in projects such as “Redline” (2007) and “3 Days Gone” (2008), where he played Lucas Snow. He also starred in the western “Yellow Rock” (2011) and appeared in “Elevator” (2011) with John Getz and Anita Briem. More recently, in 2022, he portrayed Young Jim Keene and Young Big Jim Keene in the TV mini-series “Black Bird,” and in 2024, he appeared as Travis in the film “Dirty Angels.” Additionally, he is credited as an executive producer for the 2024 film “Daft State.”

Backus has been married to actress Mira Sorvino since June 11, 2004, and they have four children. They have collaborated on films such as “Indiscretion” and “Mothers and Daughters.” His work spans across various genres, demonstrating his versatility as an actor, and in recent years, he has also expanded into production roles.
