Bahamas Kai Jones transitioned from a collegiate basketball standout to a professional player in the NBA and EuroLeague.
Kai Jones played college basketball for the University of Texas Longhorns from 2019 to 2021. During his time, he achieved Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team honors and was named Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year.
After being drafted 19th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks, Kai Jones was immediately traded to and signed with the Charlotte Hornets, where he played for two seasons.
Kai Jones agreed to a non-guaranteed deal to return to the Los Angeles Clippers, a team he had previously played for.
On March 2, 2025, Kai Jones signed a two-way contract with the Dallas Mavericks.
On September 15, 2025, Kai Jones signed with Anadolu Efes of the Turkish Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL) and the EuroLeague.

Kai Jones was born in Nassau, Bahamas, on January 19, 2001. He moved to the United States at age 11. After his sophomore year of high school, he returned to the Bahamas with aspirations in long jump. At 15, he started playing organized basketball following a growth spurt. In the summer of 2017, Jones participated in a Basketball Without Borders Americas camp in Nassau, hosted by the NBA. During this period, he trained and received advice from Deandre Ayton, which motivated him to pursue basketball in the United States.
For the 2017–18 season, Jones enrolled at Orlando Christian Prep in Orlando, Florida. He played alongside highly-rated recruits Nassir Little and C. J. Walker, contributing to the team winning the FHSAA Class 3A state championship. During high school, Jones maintained a rigorous schedule, waking at 4:45 a.m. daily for training and dedicating time to basketball after school. He also achieved academic success, graduating with a 4.2 GPA and summa cum laude honors. In the summer of 2018, he attended the NBA Global Camp in Treviso, Italy. He then completed a postgraduate season at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, where he was named to the National Prep Invitational all-tournament team on February 4, 2019. In March 2019, he helped Brewster Academy win the USA National Prep Championship.
Jones committed to play college basketball for the Texas Longhorns on October 15, 2018, choosing them over offers from other NCAA Division I programs. As a freshman in the 2019–20 season, he played in 27 games, starting 10, and averaged 3.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. He led the team in blocked shots with 30. He was recognized with an Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team selection. In his sophomore year, Jones continued to develop, earning the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year and All-Big 12 honorable mention honors. On January 26, 2021, he achieved his first double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds against Oklahoma. He declared for the 2021 NBA Draft on March 24, 2021. He was drafted 19th overall by the New York Knicks and immediately traded to the Charlotte Hornets,
officially signing with them on August 3, 2021. Following his NBA career, Jones signed with Anadolu Efes of the Turkish Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL) and the EuroLeague on September 15, 2025.
