The brilliant and determined Clarke Schmidt is a professional baseball player who pitches for the New York Yankees in the MLB. He was drafted in 2017 and made his Major Leagues debut in 2020.
Schmidt was born and raised in Georgia. He started playing baseball at High School and then played college baseball for the Gamecocks while he was at the University of South Carolina. He had an incredible few years there, becoming South Carolina’s ace as a sophomore in 2016, and remained the team’s number one starter during his junior year in 2017. Following elbow surgery, he was selected in the first round, with the 16th overall selection, of the 2017 MLB draft by the New York Yankees. Because of his surgery he didn’t make his professional debut until 2018, spending time with the GCL Yankees of the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League, and with the Staten Island Yankees of the Class A-Short Season New York-Penn League. He began 2019 with the Tampa Tarpons of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League, and was later promoted to Trenton Thunder of the Class AA Eastern League. He eventually made his Major Leagues debut for the Yankees in September 2020 as a relief pitcher.
Schmidt regularly connects with his legions of followers and fan through Twitter, and Instagram, posting pictures and videos of his life around the baseball diamond. He is also available for that personalised shout-out via the Cameo platform.
