Cody Alt is a serial entrepreneur who has taken the American legalised cannabis industry by storm. He is the founder of several companies and brands, including PureKana, Kushly, Elevate Media, Offseason Apparel, Cactus Hack, and Cure Wellness. His is an inspirational rags-to-riches tale that saw him come from a tiny American town to conquer what is one of the fastest-growing, and most hotly-contested, industries in the United States.
Alt was born and raised in Maxville, Montana. After a flirtation with real estate, he started his first business, Mon-Dak Oilfield Services, with his dad in 2011. The company helped to haul oil from rigs to refineries, and before long, the young Alt had generated over $1 million worth of business, travelling the country and, in his words, “following the oil”. In 2015, however, he turned to a new solo venture, BodyFuel, into which he poured all of his money and energy. Sadly, the business didn’t take off, and he found himself working back in the only bar in Maxville. Luckily, it wasn’t long before he had his next big idea.
Soon, Alt had launched a range of businesses dealing with CBD — the non-active part of cannabis plants — which, thanks to its healing properties, has become hugely popular with people suffering anything from chronic pain to anxiety. Off the back of this success, he has launched cannabis-themed apparel brands and cleverly navigated America’s slowly changing attitudes and legal regulations regarding cannabis to build huge brands without going down the usual routes. His authenticity and his passion for what he does, as well as his natural business flair, have made him one of the States’ most remarkable young businessmen.
