With his moving performances and distinctive voice, Colton Dixon continues to spread his musical message far and wide. Born in Tennessee, the home of country and American folk music, Colton was heavily influenced by the state’s love of good music and strong moral values from a very early age. Growing up in a musical family, Dixon sang in his church’s choir as a young boy whilst he and his sister Schyler often teamed up to perform anywhere and everywhere. In 2011, Dixon and his sister auditioned for the 10th series of American Idol. Undeterred by their lack of immediate success, the pair later performed on The Ellen Degeneres Show before trying again on the reality search show. In season 11, Dixon and Schyler auditioned separately yet both won golden tickets and gained huge success with Dixon himself placing seventh overall.
Despite Dixon’s surprising elimination, the singer launched an extremely successful career as a solo recording artist. Fans clearly remembered his moving performances and soothing voice so vividly that they avidly followed and supported Dixon’s pursuits outside the world of American Idol. Specifically focusing on Christian music, uplifting messages with lyrics full of positivity, Dixon released his widely popular debut album ‘A Messenger’ at the age of 22. Since then, Dixon has become an unstoppable force amongst the Christian music circuit. Carving a successful career in the turbulent and often difficult music industry is no easy feat, yet doing it with compassion, bravery and authenticity requires a higher level of talent and determination.
