Colton Lee Haynes was born on July 13, 1988, in Wichita, Kansas. His early life involved frequent relocations across several states, including Arkansas, New Mexico, Texas, and Florida, before he ultimately graduated from Samuel Clemens High School in Schertz, Texas. Haynes began his professional career as a model at the age of fifteen in New York City, quickly gaining recognition with an Abercrombie & Fitch campaign shot by Bruce Weber. He continued to model for various brands, including J.C. Penney, Kira Plastinina, and Ralph Lauren, building a strong foundation in the fashion industry.
His acting career began with minor roles, including an uncredited appearance in the 2007 film “Transformers” and guest spots on television series such as “CSI: Miami” and “The Hills.” A significant turning point came in 2011 when Haynes secured the role of Jackson Whittemore in MTV’s “Teen Wolf,” a supernatural drama where he played a pivotal character for two seasons. Following his departure from “Teen Wolf” in 2012, he joined “Arrow” on The CW as Roy Harper, a role that evolved from recurring to a series regular, establishing him further in the realm of superhero television. He reprised this role in later seasons and for the series finale, demonstrating his continued commitment to the character.
Haynes expanded his filmography with roles in movies such as “San Andreas” (2015) and “Rough Night” (2017), showcasing his versatility beyond television. In 2017, he also joined the cast of “American Horror Story: Cult” in a recurring capacity. He continued to take on diverse roles, including playing Jack LaLanne in the 2018 film “Bigger.” In addition to acting, Haynes has engaged in musical endeavors, covering songs and releasing singles.
