About

Connor Franta, born on September 12, 1992, in Wisconsin, began his public career on YouTube, uploading his first video in August 2010. His channel quickly gained traction, and by January 2017, it amassed over 5.67 million subscribers, accumulating more than 400 million views by September 2022. Early in his YouTube journey, he joined the collaborative channel “Our2ndLife” (O2L) in 2012, which significantly contributed to his popularity before he departed in July 2014 due to personal reasons. Franta’s influence in the digital space was recognized with the “Favorite YouTube Star” award at the 42nd People’s Choice Awards in January 2016.

Beyond his digital presence, Franta expanded into various entrepreneurial and philanthropic ventures. In 2014, he launched a successful fundraising campaign for The Thirst Project, raising over $230,000 to build water wells in Swaziland, a commitment he revisited in 2015 with a second campaign that secured over $191,000 for 16 additional wells. His entrepreneurial spirit led to the release of compilation albums under his Common Culture brand, featuring emerging musicians, with “Crown, Vol. 1” charting on the Billboard 200. In July 2015, he co-founded Heard Well, a record label focused on curating music by digital influencers. He also launched Common Culture Coffee in collaboration with LA Coffee Club in February 2015, donating a portion of sales to The Thirst Project. His Common Culture brand further diversified into a clothing line in June 2015, in partnership with Junk Food Clothing, and later, a broader lifestyle brand with a dedicated website in January 2016.

Franta’s creative output includes a successful writing career and photography. His memoir, “A Work in Progress,” released in April 2015, spent 16 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list and sold over 200,000 copies. He followed this with “Note to Self” in April 2017, exploring personal topics like depression and anxiety, and “House Fires” in September 2021. As a photographer, his work has appeared in publications such as V, L’Officiel, and Paper, where he has captured numerous celebrities. Franta publicly came out as gay in December 2014, sharing his personal journey in a video that has since garnered over 12 million views, making a significant impact within the LGBTQ+ community and resonating with a global audience.
