He pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Music degree from Illinois State University in 1994 and a Master of Education from Saint Xavier University. Before dedicating himself to entertainment, Robinson worked as a music teacher at Horace Mann Elementary School in Chicago, and H.W. Eggers Middle School and East Chicago Central High School in Indiana. During his college years, he began exploring stand-up comedy and improvisation at The Second City in Chicago, laying the groundwork for his future career.
Robinson’s acting career gained significant traction with his recurring role as Darryl Philbin on the American television series “The Office” from 2005 to 2013, eventually becoming a starring cast member in the fourth season. This role earned him multiple Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series and NAACP Image Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor.
