Cristina Danielle Valenzuela, known professionally as Cristina Vee, was born on July 11, 1987, in Norwalk, California. Growing up with a passion for acting and animation, she co-founded the first anime club at John Glenn High School. She pursued theatre arts at California State University, Long Beach, graduating in 2007. Her early interest in voice acting was sparked at age 12 after watching “Sailor Moon.” By 16, Vee had already accumulated four years of internet voice acting experience, which laid the groundwork for her professional career.
Vee began her professional voice acting journey after attending Anime Expo and making connections that led to an audition with Bang Zoom! Entertainment. Her first significant role was Kanaria in “Rozen Maiden,” followed by prominent characters such as Louise in “The Familiar of Zero” and Nanoha in “Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha” in 2008. A notable turning point in her career was in 2014 when she was selected to voice Sailor Mars in Viz’s re-dub of “Sailor Moon” and the new “Sailor Moon Crystal” series. She also took on the roles of Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug in “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir” starting in 2015, a role that brought her significant recognition and has spanned five seasons.
Beyond voice acting, Vee has also ventured into directing and producing. In 2012, she initiated a Kickstarter campaign for an animated music video, which subsequently led to the creation of an iOS game, “Veecaloid Pop,” in 2015. She also played a crucial role in casting and directing for both the “Skullgirls” video game and its web series, which earned an Annie Awards nomination. Her work in video games includes major roles like Noel Vermillion in “BlazBlue,” Velvet Crowe in “Tales of Berseria,” and Shantae in the “Shantae” series. Her diverse career also extends to hosting for prominent gaming events like IGN’s IPL4 and IPL5 “League of Legends” tournaments.
