About

Curt Menefee was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 22, 1965. He pursued his higher education at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 2010, Coe College recognized his professional achievements by awarding him an honorary doctorate in journalism, and he later served on the college’s Board of Trustees. His early career in broadcasting began at KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids and WOI-TV in Ames, Iowa, from 1987 to 1988, followed by a position at WISC-TV in Madison, Wisconsin. Menefee then worked at Sports News Network in Arlington, Virginia. After its closure, he became a weekend anchor at WTLV-TV in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1991. In 1992, Menefee transitioned to KTVT in Fort Worth, Texas, as the new sports director and also hosted a daily two-hour radio show on “The Ticket” sports radio in Dallas beginning in 1994. After his contract with KTVT was not renewed in 1995, he moved to WNYW, the Fox station in New York City.

Menefee joined Fox Sports in 1997, initially working as a sideline reporter before moving into play-by-play commentary for NFL and NFL Europe League coverage. His career trajectory at Fox led him to become the full-time host of “FOX NFL SUNDAY” in 2007, a role he has held for 20 years, contributing to the show’s 31-year run as the most-watched NFL pregame show. The program was inducted into the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Hall of Fame in 2019. In addition to his NFL responsibilities, he hosts “THE OT,” providing post-game analysis and highlights. His broadcasting portfolio expanded to include hosting the UEFA Champions League final pregame show for FOX Sports, anchoring FOX’s inaugural coverage of the U.S. Open Championship in 2015, and leading FOX UFC’s prefight coverage starting in 2011. In 2024, Menefee also took on the role of co-host for “Good Day New York” on FOX 5, airing from Tuesdays to Fridays during the NFL season. Concurrently, he served as the lead play-by-play announcer for the UFL in Spring 2025, following his work on the USFL. In 2016, he authored “Losing Isn’t Everything: The Untold Stories of Hidden Lessons Behind the Toughest Losses in Sports History.” Motivated by racial injustices, Menefee pursued a Master’s degree in Public Policy & Administration from Northwestern University, completing it in Spring 2022.

Throughout his career, Menefee has received notable recognition for his contributions to sports broadcasting. He earned the Associated Press Award for Best Sports Reporter in New York and four Katie Awards for Best Sportscast and Best Sports Special. His extensive travel experiences include visiting all seven continents and nearly 96 countries, with New Zealand and South America being among his preferred vacation destinations. He resides in Los Angeles, California.
