Mauro Ranallo

Mauro Ranallo is a Canadian sports announcer who has transitioned from calling various combat sports to becoming a recognized mental health advocate. After establishing his career at the age of 16 as an announcer and manager for the nationally televised ‘All-Star Wrestling’ in Vancouver in 1986, Mauro Ranallo went on to build a distinctive voice in combat sports commentary. Following his tenure with ‘All-Star Wrestling’ until 1989, Ranallo worked as a disc jockey at CFVR radio. He continued his commentary work in professional wrestling, serving as a commentator for ‘Stampede Wrestling’ TV from 1999 to 2000 and for KVOS-TV’s ‘Top Ranked Wrestling’ from 2005 to 2006, laying the groundwork for his extensive career across various combat sports disciplines.

He has since continued his prolific broadcasting career with Bellator MMA and Showtime Championship Boxing, solidifying his status as a premier voice in combat sports. Ranallo’s distinguished commentary has been recognized with multiple ‘Best Television Announcer’ awards from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and ‘Wrestling Commentator of the Year’ from CBS Sports for his impactful work with NXT. Beyond his broadcasting achievements, Mauro Ranallo is a prominent and vocal mental health advocate, openly discussing his experiences to reduce stigma associated with mental illness. His personal journey was chronicled in the critically acclaimed 2018 Showtime documentary ‘Bipolar Rock ‘N Roller.’ Most recently, Ranallo was announced in 2024 as ‘The Voice’ of Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, continuing to expand his extensive portfolio across various entertainment platforms.
