Daire Lynch

Securing a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Men’s Double Sculls (M2x) alongside Philip Doyle, Daire Lynch achieved a historic milestone, marking the first time an Irish men’s heavyweight crew medaled in this event at the Olympics. This pinnacle achievement followed a highly successful 2024 season, where the duo earned a bronze at World Cup I in Varese and a gold at World Cup III in Pozna?. Lynch’s trajectory to the Olympics was solidified by a bronze medal at the 2023 World Rowing Championships in Belgrade in the M2x, which simultaneously qualified his boat for the subsequent Olympic Games. Lynch continued his ascent through the U23 age category, notably winning a gold medal at the 2020 European U23 Rowing Championships in Duisburg, Germany, competing in the M2x event alongside Ronan Byrne.

The same year, he further distinguished himself by earning a bronze medal at the Senior European Championships in Poznan, Poland, also in the M2x. During his tenure at Yale University from 2017 to 2022, Lynch maintained a high level of competitive excellence, securing five Irish national championships, including four for single sculls and one for pairs. His early international potential was evident with an 8th-place finish in the JM2x event at the 2016 World Junior Championships. Throughout his career, Lynch has consistently delivered strong performances at various World Rowing Cups, solidifying his standing as a competitive athlete on the global stage.

His dedication to the sport remains unwavering, underscored by his planned participation in the 2025 European Rowing Championships in Plovdiv in the M2- event.
