About

Danielle Scott, born in New South Wales in 1990, began her elite athletic career at a young age. At seven, she received a gymnastics scholarship to the Australian Institute of Sport, making her the youngest Australian gymnast to do so. After competing at a high level, she retired from gymnastics at 13. She continued participating in various sports for three years before being introduced to aerial skiing by five-time winter Olympian Jacqui Cooper. Despite having no prior skiing experience, Scott quickly adapted to the sport and debuted on the World Cup circuit in the 2011-12 season. She consistently made finals and earned the International Ski Federation Rookie of the Year award.

Scott’s career in aerial skiing progressed steadily. She secured a bronze medal at the 2013 World Championships and subsequently made her Olympic debut at the Sochi 2014 Games, finishing ninth. Following this, she continued to improve, becoming the top Australian performer on the World Cup circuit in 2015. She achieved her first World Cup win in Russia that year and concluded the 2014-15 tour ranked third globally. Consistent high performance led to her finishing the 2016 and 2017 seasons ranked second in the world. In 2017, she earned her second World Championship medal, a silver, in Sierra Nevada, Spain.

Her second Olympic campaign was at PyeongChang 2018, where she placed 12th. After the 2018 Games, Scott took a break from the sport. She returned in September 2019 but sustained an ACL injury, missing the 2019-20 season. Following a year of rehabilitation, she re-entered competition in January 2021, winning a gold medal at the Deer Valley World Cup in the USA. During the 2020-21 season, Scott successfully incorporated triple backflips into her routine, earning two Europa Cup gold medals in her first event with triples. She finished fourth at the 2021 World Championships. Leading up to Beijing 2022, she secured her fifth World Cup victory in Ruka, Finland, achieving a score of 102.93 points. At her third Olympics in Beijing 2022, she finished in tenth position.
