Daniil Aldoshkin

Daniil Alexeyevich Aldoshkin was born on June 19, 2001, in Kolomna, Moscow Oblast, Russia. His introduction to speed skating came at age five, when his father provided his initial lessons and subsequently enrolled him in the Kolomna Olympic Reserve Sports School “Kometa.” Under the tutelage of his first coach, Viktor Sivkov, Aldoshkin developed his skills in the sport, focusing particularly on distances ranging from 1500m to 10000m. He has cited Sven Kramer as a significant influence and idol in his athletic development.

Aldoshkin’s career has been marked by consistent progression and notable achievements. On November 21, 2021, he secured a first-place finish in the 1500-meter race in division B at the second stage of the World Cup in Stavanger, Norway. The pinnacle of his early career came in 2022, when he made his debut at the Winter Olympics in Beijing. As the youngest member of the Russian speed skating team, he earned a silver medal in the men’s team pursuit event, a significant milestone for the then 20-year-old athlete. He also placed 5th in the Men’s Mass Start and 14th in the Men’s 1500m at the same Games.

Beyond his Olympic success, Aldoshkin has accumulated multiple accolades, including a bronze medal at the World Cup in the team race. He is also a national champion in the classical all-around discipline within Russia and holds a silver medal at a distance of 1500m in national competitions. He continues to train in his hometown of Kolomna and is currently a part-time student in the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports at the State Social and Humanitarian University in Kolomna.
