Danny Maddix

Daniel Shawn Maddix was born on October 11, 1967, in Ashford, Kent, England. He began his football career in the youth system at Tottenham Hotspur from 1985 to 1986. Maddix made his senior career debut in 1986, while on loan to Southend United, where he made two appearances. He then spent a single senior season at Tottenham Hotspur before moving to Queens Park Rangers.

Maddix joined Queens Park Rangers in 1987, making his debut in November. During his 13 seasons at Loftus Road, he made 295 league appearances, scoring 13 goals. He was a key figure in the team’s defense, particularly known for forming a strong partnership with Alan McDonald as a man-marking centre-half. Maddix experienced several seasons in the Premier League with QPR before the club’s relegation in 1996, and he continued to play for them afterwards. His tenure at QPR was marked by consistent performance in the team’s back four.

Following his long career at Queens Park Rangers, Maddix moved to Sheffield Wednesday in 2001, where he played 59 games and scored 2 goals. He remained with Sheffield Wednesday until 2003, when the club was relegated. In 2003, he signed with Barnet F.C. and served as joint caretaker manager with Ian Hendon in 2004. He concluded his professional playing career in December 2004 and subsequently played for Grays Athletic until 2006. Post-retirement from professional football, Maddix has been involved in coaching youth football, including with the Chigwell-based club Colebrook Royals.
