Daren Kagasoff

Daren Kagasoff was born on September 16, 1987, in Encino, California. He is the son of Elise Kagasoff, a designer, and Barry Kagasoff, a wholesale diamond dealer. Kagasoff is the middle of three children, with an older brother, Justin, and a younger sister, Natalie. He graduated from Montclair Preparatory High School in 2005, where he was actively involved in baseball. After high school, Kagasoff attended San Francisco State University, initially studying business management. During his time there, he made the decision to pursue acting and subsequently moved back to Los Angeles to focus on his new career path.

Kagasoff’s acting career began after he landed a lead role in a local theater production of ‘Suburbia’. His talent quickly caught the attention of producer Brenda Hampton, who cast him as Ricky Underwood in the ABC Family series ‘The Secret Life of The American Teenager’ in 2008. This role marked a significant turning point in his career, lasting for five seasons until 2013 and reaching the 100-episode milestone. Following this, he was cast as the male lead, Alex, in the television adaptation pilot for Lauren Oliver’s ‘Delirium’ in 2013, directed by Rodrigo Garcia for FOX, though the pilot was not picked up to series. In 2014, he co-starred as Trevor in the Universal Pictures feature film ‘Ouija’, which achieved the number one spot at the domestic box office for two weeks. He also recurred as Hunter Cole in the FOX series ‘Red Band Society’ from 2014 to 2015, appearing in seven episodes alongside Octavia Spencer, and guest-starred in the CBS series ‘Stalker’ in 2014.

More recently, Kagasoff has continued to expand his filmography with diverse roles. In 2019, he was a series regular playing Gabe Napolitano in the NBC apartment drama series ‘The Village’. In 2022, he starred as Bill Koenig in the American biographical war film ‘Devotion’, opposite Glen Powell and Jonathan Majors, based on the book ‘Devotion: An Epic Story of Heroism, Friendship, and Sacrifice’. His most recent project, ‘Hanukkah on the Rocks’, a Hallmark TV movie where he plays Jay, aired in 2024. Throughout his career, Kagasoff has received several award nominations, including multiple Teen Choice Awards, winning ‘Choice Summer TV Star: Male’ in 2009 for his work on ‘The Secret Life of The American Teenager’. He resides in Southern California and enjoys golfing and surfing in his free time.
