Dave Annable

David Rodman Annable was born on September 15, 1979, in Suffern, New York, and grew up in the small town of Walden. His early life involved playing sports such as baseball, rugby, and hockey. He attended SUNY Plattsburgh, where he was involved with the student-run Plattsburgh State Television (PSTV), both acting and working behind the camera on shows like “Late Night with Dave Annable” and “The Roommate Game.” Annable decided to pursue acting full-time, initially against his parents’ wishes, attending the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York City. He studied acting with Richárd Pintér and gained early experience in commercials for brands such as Reebok, Wendy’s, Starburst, and Pepsi, including a Mountain Dew commercial with NASCAR Rookie of the year Kasey Kahne.

Annable first gained public attention in 2005 with his role as Aaron Lewis on the Fox television series “Reunion.” Before this, he had guest roles on “Third Watch,” “Other People’s Business,” and “Spellbound,” and appeared in the film “Little Black Book.” His breakthrough came in 2006 when he secured a regular starring role on the ABC family drama “Brothers & Sisters.” In this series, he played Justin Walker, a psychologically damaged Afghan war veteran dealing with drug problems, a role for which he lost 11 kg to portray his character’s addiction. His performance earned him a Prism Award for Best Performance in a Drama Series Multi-Episode Storyline.

Throughout his career, Annable has continued to take on diverse roles in television and film. He starred as Henry Martin in the supernatural drama “666 Park Avenue” (2012–2013), Dr. Adam McAndrew in “Red Band Society” (2014–2015), and Dr. Pierce Harrison in “Heartbeat” (2016). He has also appeared in “Yellowstone” (2018–2022) as Lee Dutton, and in 2023, he joined the cast of the Paramount+ spy series “Special Ops: Lioness” as Neil, with an upcoming role as Wes Larsen in “The Waterfront” (2025). Five years after initially dropping out, Annable completed his Communications degree from SUNY Plattsburgh in May 2009, delivering the commencement speech.
