United States David A. R. White has transitioned from a successful actor to a prominent producer and co-founder in the faith-based entertainment industry, inspiring audiences with his work.
David A.R. White founded Pure Flix in 2005 with Michael Scott, Russell Wolfe, and Elizabeth Travis. It quickly emerged as the number one faith-based studio, producing and distributing more films in the genre than any other studio. White acted, directed, produced, and wrote many of its films.
Sony picked up films produced by David A.R. White, including The Moment After and Mercy Streets, for distribution. Later, in 2020, Sony acquired Pure Flix, the company White co-founded, and he continued to manage it with Michael Scott. Sony is also distributing his upcoming film, A Line of Fire.
David A.R. White created, produced, and starred in the UP original film, Brother White, in 2012. He also starred in the UP original action/comedy dog movie Dancer and the Dame in 2015.

David A. R. White was born in Dodge City, Kansas, and grew up in a supportive Mennonite farming community. At the age of 19, he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. Within six months of his move, he secured a recurring role on the top 10 CBS sitcom *Evening Shade*, playing the best friend of Burt Reynolds’ son for nearly four years. His early career included guest appearances on television shows such as *Coach*, *Saved by the Bell*, *Sisters*, and *Melrose Place*. In 1999, White produced and starred in his first feature film, *The Moment After*. The following year, he produced and starred in *Mercy Streets*, a faith-based theatrical film opposite Eric Roberts, Stacy Keach, and Cynthia Watros. His dual roles in this film earned him a Movieguide’s “best actor” nomination, and Sony handled its distribution.
In late 2005, David A. R. White became a founding partner of Pure Flix, a film distribution and production entity. Pure Flix rapidly established itself as a leading studio in the faith-based genre, producing and distributing numerous films. White became a prolific actor and filmmaker within this sector, frequently writing, directing, producing, and starring in many of their projects. He has starred in over 25 films, including *SIX…the Mark Unleashed* with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, *The Moment After 1 & 2*, *In the Blink of an Eye*, *Hidden Secrets*, *Marriage Retreat*, *Me Again*, *Jerusalem Countdown*, and the *Revelation Road* movie series. In 2012, White created, produced, and starred in the UP original film *Brother White*, co-starring Reginald Vel Johnson and Jackee, which earned him a finalist nomination for Best Actor – Family Friendly at the 5th Annual Cable FAX Program Awards.
A significant milestone in White’s career occurred in 2014 when he produced and co-starred in *God’s Not Dead*, which became the number one live-action independent movie of the year. This film achieved significant financial success, becoming the 6th most profitable movie in cinematic history based on its return on investment (ROI). The *God’s Not Dead* franchise has since generated four sequels, grossing over 100 million dollars in US theatrical runs, with White starring in all of them. In 2015, he starred in the UP original action/comedy *Dancer and the Dame* alongside Billy Gardell. White further expanded his creative work by creating, producing, and starring in two sitcoms for Pure Flix: *Hitting the Breaks* and *Malibu Dan the Family Man*, which featured guest stars such as Morgan Fairchild and Rob Schneider. In 2020, Sony acquired Pure Flix, and White continued to manage it with Michael Scott. His latest project, *A Line of Fire*, a mainstream action/thriller co-starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and Jason Patric, was acquired by Sony for a 2025 release. He is currently preparing for his next action thriller, *Ashland*.
