At the age of seven, his family relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where his father took a position at WPVI-TV. Boreanaz pursued his education at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York, graduating in 1991 with a degree in cinema and photography.
After college, Boreanaz moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, initially taking uncredited roles and working as a production assistant. His first credited acting role was a guest appearance in 1993 on the American sitcom “Married… with Children” as Kelly Bundy’s unfaithful boyfriend. A significant turning point in his career occurred when he was cast as Angel in the television series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” in 1997. This role led to his own spin-off series, “Angel,” which premiered in 1999 and ran for five seasons until 2004.
Following the conclusion of “Angel,” Boreanaz took on the lead role of FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth in the Fox crime procedural comedy-drama series “Bones,” which ran from 2005 to 2017. During this period, he also expanded his contributions to the show by serving as a producer and directing multiple episodes. In 2017, he began his current lead role as Master Chief Petty Officer Jason Hayes in the CBS/Paramount+ military drama series “SEAL Team,” where he also serves as a director and producer. His career has also included roles in films such as “Valentine” (2001) and voicing characters in animated features like “Justice League: The New Frontier” (2008).
