Deandre Ayton is a basketball ace who plays for the Phoenix Suns since the NBA team selected him with the first overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft. Standing at a towering 7 ft tall and weighing 250 pounds and with a wingspan projected to be at around 7’5″, Ayton has a physique ideally designed for basketball, and he moves exceptionally well for his size. The star player has already helped lead the Suns to their first NBA finals appearance for nearly two decades, and he was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2019.
Born in Nassau, Bahamas, Ayton moved to San Diego, California in the USA to play high school basketball. After starting on the varsity basketball team at Balboa School in California, he transferred to Hillcrest Prep Academy in Phoenix, Arizona where he led Hillcrest to a Grind Session World Championship. He went on to impress at the 2016 Nike Hoop Summit whilst representing the World Select team, and was soon considered one of the top prospects in the 2017 recruiting class. Rated as a five-star recruit, he committed to play college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats. During his time with the Wildcats he was voted a consensus first-team All-American, named Freshman of the Year and Pac-12’s Player of the Year and also named the winner of the prestigious Karl Malone Award.
