Debby Ryan

Deborah Ann Ryan was born on May 13, 1993, in Huntsville, Alabama. Her family moved to Texas and then to Wiesbaden, Germany, where she developed an interest in acting through local plays and musicals from age seven. By age nine, she had decided to pursue acting professionally. The family later returned to Keller, Texas, before relocating to Los Angeles to support her career in the entertainment industry. She began her film career with roles in “Barney: Let’s Go to the Firehouse” (2007) and the MGM film “The Longshots” (2008), appearing alongside Keke Palmer and Ice Cube. She also featured in national television commercials before securing a series-regular role on Disney Channel’s “The Suite Life on Deck” (2008).

Ryan’s career expanded significantly with her role in “The Suite Life on Deck” from 2008 to 2011. In 2010, she starred in the Disney Channel film “16 Wishes,” which garnered 5.6 million viewers and achieved international success in over 30 countries. She actively participated in marketing efforts for the film. Beyond Disney, Ryan took on dramatic roles, including an appearance on ABC’s “Private Practice” as a recovering cocaine addict and a guest role as a murder suspect on A&E’s “The Glades” in 2012. Her notable Disney Channel series, “Jessie” (2011-2015), was unique as it was picked up with only her, the Show Runner, and the script confirmed. She also starred in “Radio Rebel” (2012), which premiered to over 6 million viewers. For “Radio Rebel,” she produced the music video and contributed to three soundtrack tracks. In 2012, she expanded into voice acting, lending her talents to “Secret of the Wings” and “Ultimate Spider-Man.”

In addition to acting, Ryan has a music career. She is a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, piano, and keyboard, and formed the indie band The Never Ending in 2012, releasing their debut EP “One” in 2014. She directed episodes of “Jessie,” becoming one of the youngest female directors for a Disney Channel production, and served as an active producer on the show. In 2016, she launched Shadowborn Productions, producing music videos for “Radio Rebel” and Atlantic’s “Fueled by Ramen.” Her later acting credits include “Sing It!” (2016) for YouTube Red, “Rip Tide” (2017), “Life of the Party” (2018), and the lead role in Netflix’s “Insatiable” (2018-2019). Ryan also co-starred in the psychological drama “Horse Girl” (2020) and the thriller “Night Teeth” (2021).
