Demetrius “DeeJay” Dallas, Jr. was born on September 16, 1998, in Brunswick, Georgia. He distinguished himself early in his football career at Glynn Academy, where he played multiple positions including wide receiver, running back, quarterback, kick returner, and punt returner. His versatility and athletic talent led him to be considered one of the top recruits in the class of 2017, with offers from prominent collegiate programs. Ultimately, Dallas chose to play college football for the Miami Hurricanes, committing in May 2016.
Dallas continued to develop his skills at the University of Miami from 2017 to 2019. During his freshman year, he transitioned from wide receiver to running back due to team needs, showcasing adaptability that would define his career. His sophomore season in 2018 was particularly notable, as he led the team with 1,260 all-purpose yards, including a punt-return touchdown against Pittsburgh, and earned the Christopher Plumer Memorial Award for leadership and Special Teams MVP. In his junior year, despite a season-ending elbow injury, Dallas achieved career highs in rushing yards (693) and rushing touchdowns (8), also earning the R. Dale Melching Leadership Award and being named one of the Captains of the Year. He concluded his college career with 1,527 rushing yards, 317 receiving yards, and 20 total touchdowns before declaring for the NFL draft.
His professional career began when the Seattle Seahawks selected him in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL draft as the 144th overall pick. With the Seahawks, Dallas made his NFL debut in Week 3 of 2020. He scored his first NFL rushing and receiving touchdowns in Week 8 of the same year against the San Francisco 49ers. In 2024, Dallas signed a three-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals, where he made history on September 8, 2024, by scoring the first kick return touchdown under the NFL’s new dynamic kickoff rules. In August 2025, he joined the Carolina Panthers practice squad and was later signed to their active roster on October 1, 2025, continuing his NFL journey.
