About

Demi Vollering, born on November 15, 1996, in Pijnacker, Netherlands, emerged from a family of greenhouse growers. Her early introduction to cycling involved local ‘fat tire’ races, sparking a dream of professional cycling that she recorded in her diary. During her youth, speed skating was her primary athletic focus, with training in Zoetermeer and competition at the Uithof in The Hague. At the age of 10, she joined Tourclub Pijnacker, largely riding with men due to the limited number of girls in the sport at the time. Alongside her athletic pursuits, Vollering also balanced her education, earning a qualification in Floral Design, and working in flower shops and greenhouses, in addition to coaching children at a local ice skating club.

Vollering’s career saw a turning point in 2017 after a cycling trip to the Ardennes with her fiancée, who encouraged her to fully commit to professional cycling. This motivation led her to join SwaboLadies in 2018, where she made significant progress under the guidance of a cycling coach. Her performances in stage races such as Thüringen and Ardèche attracted the attention of professional teams, culminating in her signing with Parkhotel Valkenburg in 2019. Her professional debut year was marked by a third-place finish in Liège-Bastogne-Liège, a significant breakthrough, and victories at the Volta Limburg Classic and the Festival Elsy Jacobs prologue. She continued to achieve strong results, including a third-place finish at La Course by Le Tour de France and La Flèche Wallonne in 2020, before joining Team SD Worx in 2021.

At Team SD Worx, Vollering’s career ascended, notably winning her first World Tour race at Liège-Bastogne-Liège in 2021, and clinching La Course by Le Tour de France. In 2022, she secured second place in the Tour de France Femmes. The year 2023 marked a particularly dominant season for Vollering, as she won 17 races, including the prestigious Tour de France Femmes and all three Ardennes Classics consecutively. Her achievements culminated in her becoming the world’s best rider and receiving the Vélo d’Or award. Despite facing challenges, including a coccyx fracture during the 2024 Tour de France Femmes, she continued to demonstrate resilience and competitive spirit, securing notable victories such as the Vuelta Espana and the Tour de Suisse. In 2025, she transitioned to FDJ-Suez, bringing new sponsorships with Nike and Specialized.
