DENM

Mac Montgomery, known as DENM, was born in San Diego, CA, and lived there until the age of 14. He taught himself to play guitar at 14, inspired by Led Zeppelin’s second album. He later moved to Santa Barbara to live with his mother but was asked to leave at 16. In his early 30s, DENM is married and has four children. His personal experiences have informed his musical journey and independent artistic direction.

Montgomery began his musical career in a band called FMLYBND, which went on hiatus in 2015. In 2016, he started recording music as DENM, releasing his debut single “Lit” on May 19, 2016. This was followed by his debut EP, “Dreamhouse,” released on August 26, 2016. He later released another EP, “Is Whatever,” in 2018, continuing to develop his distinctive musical style. In 2020, DENM entered into a license agreement with Ineffable Records, a strategic partnership that supported his independent artistic vision.

DENM’s career progressed with the release of several singles in late 2020 and early 2021, including “My Wave,” “Fallin,” and “Califas.” The latter featured Jared Watson of Dirty Heads. These singles were part of the “Califas” EP, released on April 16, 2021. On May 14, 2021, DENM released his debut studio album, “Slum Beach Denny,” which included tracks from the “Califas” EP and collaborations with artists such as Casey Veggies, GDSN, and Darnell Williams. He has since released the EP “Slum Beach Posse, Vol. 1” (2023) with Landon McNamara and “DENM | OurVinyl Sessions” (2023), with a forthcoming album “Hot N Glassy” scheduled for 2025. DENM has embarked on several tours, including supporting Iration’s Daytrippin’ Tour in 2024, alongside Pepper and Artikal Sound System. His musical influences include Bob Marley, Chris Cornell, Bradley Nowell of Sublime, Jimi Hendrix, Lenny Kravitz, and Kendrick Lamar.
