Devery Jacobs is an award-winning actress and filmmaker, known for her roles in critically acclaimed television series and films, advocating for Indigenous representation in media. After her breakout lead role in Jeff Barnabys critically acclaimed 2013 film, Rhymes for Young Ghouls, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, Devery Jacobs earned a nomination for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in 2014. Her early career also saw her appear in television series such as The Dead Zone (2007) and Assassin’s Creed: Lineage (2009). Jacobs’ talent quickly garnered industry recognition, with The Hollywood Reporter naming her one of Canadas Rising Breakout Stars, and Telefilm Canada honoring her at the 2017 Birks Diamond Tribute.
A significant turning point in Jacobs’ career came with her starring role as Elora Danan Postoak in Taika Waititis groundbreaking FX series Reservation Dogs, which ran from 2021 to 2023. Her portrayal earned her Critics’ Choice Television Award nominations for Best Actress in a Comedy Series in both 2023 and 2024. Beyond acting, Jacobs is also an accomplished filmmaker; her short film Rae (2017) was an official selection of the 2018 Palm Springs Shortfest and won Best Youth Work at the 2017 imagineNATIVE Film Festival.
