Dom Irrera

Domenick Jack Irrera, born on November 18, 1948, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, embarked on his comedy career in stand-up, developing a distinctive style centered on personal anecdotes, particularly those stemming from his childhood and Italian-American family background. His early academic pursuits included studies at Barry University and St. Thomas University in Florida. Irrera gained significant recognition in 1989 when his episode of the HBO TV series, ‘One Night Stand,’ was awarded a Cable Ace Award, marking an early career highlight that brought his comedic talent to a wider audience.

Throughout his career, Irrera made numerous appearances on prominent television shows, including ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show,’ ‘The View,’ ‘The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson’ in 1986, ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,’ ‘The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,’ and ‘The Late Show with David Letterman.’ His acting credits include roles on the NBC sitcom ‘Seinfeld’ as Ronnie Kaye the prop comic, and on the CBS sitcom ‘The King of Queens’ as Spero Demopolous. Irrera also had a consistent presence on the animated series ‘Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist,’ appearing as himself in eleven episodes across all six seasons. His versatility extended to voice acting for Nickelodeon, where he lent his voice to characters such as Ernie Potts on ‘Hey Arnold!’ and Duke on ‘Back at the Barnyard.’
