American actor Don Most is known to millions worldwide for playing Ralph Malph in the classic 1970s sitcom Happy Days. Between 1974 and 1984, he appeared in almost 200 episodes of the show and its animated spin-off The Fonz and Happy Days Gang. In the years since, he has rarely been away from our screens, with more recent roles including that of Ron Philbury in Glee and Pete in The Bold and The Beautiful. He is also an accomplished singer with a particular fondness for swing music. He released the Christmas swing album Swinging Down the Chimney Tonight in 2016 and has also toured with a show called Donny Most Sings and Swings.
Most was born in Brooklyn and originally chose to study engineering and then business at university in Pennsylvania. However, he also harboured dreams of acting and decided to spend the summer before his final year in Hollywood auditioning for roles. Whilst there, he landed the role of Ralph in Happy Days, a new sitcom set in a fictional diner during the 1950s. The show would go on to become one of the most successful of the decade, launching numerous spin-off and enshrining characters such as The Fonz, with his “eyyyyy!” catchphrase, in television lore. His acting career launched, Most abandoned university and moved to California.
Although he is largely known for Happy Days, Most’s resume is peppered with appearances in other landmark shows of the late 20th century, including CHiPs, Baywatch, Murder She Wrote, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and even Family Guy.
