South African actress and director Nathalie Boltt has found success overseas in both live-action and animated series and films. She is perhaps currently best known for her recurring role as Penelope Blossom in all six series of Riverdale, The CW’s teen drama series that will conclude after its seventh season airs in 2023. She also voiced the character of DottyWot in 40 episodes of the children’s show The WotWots, which first aired in New Zealand but has been broadcast all over the world. Her film credits include the likes of District 9 (rated as one of the best sci-fi movies of the Noughties) and, more recently, the 2021 horror movie Demonic.
Boltt came relatively late to screen acting, not getting her first regular work until she was in her thirties. However, she made up for lost time by quickly establishing herself through appearing in television movies alongside big names such as Lou Diamond Phillips and Adam Baldwin. She began to make headway towards the end of the 2000s with roles such as sociologist Sarah Livingstone in the $210 million-grossing District 9 and other big films such as Doomsday. In 2010, she got her first big voice role when she joined the cast of The WotWots.
The 2010s saw Boltt achieve her greatest success so far. As well as her ongoing role in Riverdale, she also had success in New Zealand, with recurring roles in the likes of When We Go To War, Step Dave, and 800 Words. Through her various roles, she has become huge on social media — and Instagram in particular. She currently has more than 1.7 million followers on the site and is always keeping her fans up-to-date on her work.
