Doug Davidson

Douglas Donald Davidson was born on October 24, 1954, in Glendale, California, USA. He began his acting career, eventually becoming known for his role as Paul Williams on the CBS daytime soap opera ‘The Young and the Restless.’ He commenced this role on May 15, 1978, and continued with it until 2020, making him one of the longest-serving cast members in soap opera history. Prior to his acting career, Davidson pursued a marine biology major at Occidental College.

Beyond his extensive acting work, Davidson broadened his professional activities by hosting various television shows and charitable events. From 1989 to 1995, he appeared on ‘Family Feud’ as a captain for ‘The Young and the Restless’ team. In 1994, he took on the role of host for a syndicated, half-hour version of the game show ‘The New Price Is Right,’ which ran until 1995. He was also considered to replace Bob Barker as host of ‘The Price Is Right’ in 2007 and hosted the live stage adaptation, ‘The Price Is Right Live!’ at Harrah’s casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada. From 1998 to 2003, Davidson hosted the annual ‘Tournament of Roses Parade.’

Davidson’s career has been recognized with numerous awards and nominations. He received multiple Soap Opera Digest Awards, including Outstanding Hero in 1990 and 1991, and Outstanding Supporting Actor in 1992 and 1997. He also earned several Daytime Emmy Award nominations for his role in ‘The Young and the Restless,’ ultimately winning the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2013. His consistent presence and recognized talent highlight a career marked by significant achievements in daytime television.
