Dr. Jan Pol first established Pol Veterinary Services in Weidman, Michigan in 1981, building a practice from its initial operations in his garage to one that now serves thousands of clients across rural Michigan. His practice treats a diverse range of animals, from small pets to large farm animals, reflecting his comprehensive approach to veterinary care. Prior to founding his own clinic, Dr.
Pol earned his degree in veterinary medicine from Utrecht University in 1970, subsequently working for a local veterinarian in Harbor Beach, Michigan for a decade, gaining extensive hands-on experience. Dr. Pol gained widespread public recognition with the premiere of Nat Geo WILD’s reality television series, ‘The Incredible Dr. Pol,’ in 2011.
In recognition of his significant contributions to public health and animal welfare, Dr. Pol received an honorary doctorate of public service from Central Michigan University in 2013. Leveraging his prominent public profile, he expanded his brand into various product lines, including specialized pet food and animal feeds, reaching a broader audience concerned with animal nutrition and care. He also dedicates time to supporting local philanthropic organizations such as 4-H and FFA, actively promoting essential animal care education for young adults in his community.
This new program further highlights his practical, hands-on approach to animal care and solidifies his integral role within the rural community.
