About

Dulé Hill, born Karim Dulé Hill on May 3, 1975, in Orange, New Jersey, began his performing arts journey early, attending dance school at age three. He quickly developed a talent for tap dancing, which led to his first Broadway role as an understudy for Savion Glover in ‘The Tap Dance Kid.’ He later took over the lead role for the musical’s national tour. While pursuing a degree in business finance at Seton Hall University, Hill continued to hone his acting skills, appearing in national commercials and the PBS children’s series ‘Ghostwriter’ at 13 years old, earning his SAG card. His early film career began during his senior year of high school with a role in ‘Sugar Hill’ (1993).

Hill’s career gained significant momentum with his role as Charlie Young, presidential aide, in NBC’s ‘The West Wing’ (1999–2006). This role earned him an Emmy Award nomination and two Screen Actors Guild Awards as part of the ensemble. Following his tenure on ‘The West Wing,’ Hill transitioned to another prominent television role as Burton ‘Gus’ Guster in the USA Network comedy ‘Psych’ (2006–2014), where he also served as a producer. He reprised this role in subsequent ‘Psych’ movies. His recent work includes portraying Alex Williams in the USA Network drama ‘Suits’ (2017–2019) and the patriarch Bill Williams in ABC’s ‘The Wonder Years’ (2021–2023).

Beyond his television success, Hill has maintained an active presence in theater, including roles in Broadway productions like ‘Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk,’ ‘After Midnight,’ and ‘Stick Fly.’ His film credits include ‘She’s All That’ (1999), ‘Holes’ (2003) alongside Shia LaBeouf, ‘The Guardian’ (2006), and ‘Locked Down’ (2021). Hill’s diverse career demonstrates his range across different genres and platforms.
