Dylan Llewellyn

Dylan John Llewellyn was born on September 10, 1992, in Reigate, Surrey, England. He began his acting career in his teenage years, first appearing in the short film ‘Travel Bag’ in 2009, followed by a role in the television series ‘The Bill’ in 2010. His early career also included significant time in British soap operas, notably as Martin ‘Jono’ Johnson in ‘Hollyoaks’ from 2011 to 2012, a role which also extended to its spin-off ‘Hollyoaks Later’. During this period, he honed his acting skills over 94 episodes before his character was written out of the series in November 2012. Llewellyn’s foundational training included a foundation in acting at RADA, after attending More House School in Farnham, a specialist institution that supported students with learning differences like his own dyslexia. This early support was crucial in developing his confidence and techniques as an actor.

Following his departure from ‘Hollyoaks’, Llewellyn continued to build his resume with appearances in ‘Holby City’ (2013) and films such as ‘Frequencies’ (2013) and ‘Down Dog’ (2014). A significant turning point in his career came when he was cast as James Maguire in the Channel 4 sitcom ‘Derry Girls’ (2018–2022). This role brought him widespread recognition and was a departure from earlier work, allowing him to showcase his comedic talent. The series became Channel 4’s most-watched comedy for two decades. Building on this success, he took on the lead role of Jack in ‘Big Boys’ (2022–2025) and joined the cast of ‘Beyond Paradise’ as PC Kelby Hartford in 2023, a spin-off of the popular ‘Death in Paradise’. Beyond scripted roles, Llewellyn has engaged in several television appearances, including ‘The Crystal Maze’ with his ‘Derry Girls’ co-stars in 2018, ‘The Inbetweeners: Fwends Reunited’ in 2019, and ‘Celebrity Mastermind’ in 2019, where he won on the specialist subject of Quentin Tarantino. He also participated in ‘The Great British Bake Off’ in a ‘Derry Girls’ special in 2020.
