John Sullivan

John Sullivan was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft (187th overall), launching an accomplished eleven-season career as a professional Football center. After his collegiate career with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from 2004 to 2007, Sullivan quickly ascended in the NFL. Following a year as backup, he became the Minnesota Vikings’ starting center in 2009, playing a crucial role in the team’s offense, particularly during the Brett Favre era. His consistent, high-level performance was recognized when he signed a significant five-year, $25 million contract extension with the Vikings in December 2011, solidifying his indispensable position on the offensive line.

Sullivan’s tenure with the Vikings included anchoring an offensive line that facilitated one of the most historic rushing seasons in NFL history. In 2012, he was instrumental in paving the way for running back Adrian Peterson to achieve an extraordinary 2,097 rushing yards. This pivotal contribution earned Sullivan a well-deserved selection to the Pro Football Writers Association’s All-Pro team that same year, highlighting his elite status among league centers.
