John Sullivan

John Sullivan was born on August 8, 1985, in Mount Kisco, New York, and grew up in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. He attended Greenwich High School, where he excelled in multiple sports, including football, wrestling, and water polo. In football, Sullivan played offensive tackle as a freshman before converting to center, starting for his final three seasons and also playing defensive tackle. He earned numerous accolades, such as Parade and Super Prep All-American honors, and was named Gatorade Player of the Year in Connecticut. His high school football career culminated in leading his team to a 12–1–1 record and a league title in 2002. He later accepted an athletic scholarship to the University of Notre Dame, playing for the Fighting Irish from 2004 to 2007.

Sullivan was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL draft (187th overall). After a year as backup, he became the starting center in 2009, playing a crucial role in the Vikings’ offense, particularly with quarterback Brett Favre. He consistently performed at a high level, despite battling injuries, and received a five-year, $25 million contract extension in December 2011. His career with the Vikings included anchoring the offensive line that allowed Adrian Peterson to achieve 2,097 rushing yards in 2012, earning him a spot on the Pro Football Writers Association’s All-Pro team. Sullivan later played for the Washington Redskins in 2016 and signed with the Los Angeles Rams in 2017. He started 15 games for the Rams in 2017 and all 16 games in 2018, contributing to their Super Bowl LIII appearance. The Rams did not exercise his 2019 option, making him an unrestricted free agent.
