Elizabeth Smart

Elizabeth Smart is a child safety activist, commentator, author, and producer who advocates for missing persons and against sexual violence, sharing her story and expertise with global audiences and brands. After her highly publicized rescue in March 2003, Elizabeth Smart transformed her personal experience into a powerful platform, becoming a leading child safety activist, commentator, author, and producer dedicated to advocating for missing persons and against sexual violence. Having earned a Bachelor of Music in harp performance from Brigham Young University, Smart quickly dedicated her efforts to activism. In 2006, she testified before the United States Congress, advocating for legislation against sexual predators and supporting the Amber Alert system.

In 2016, she became a correspondent for ‘Crime Watch Daily.’ In 2017, she served as executive producer and narrator for the Lifetime film ‘I Am Elizabeth Smart,’ a powerful adaptation of her abduction story. Building on her literary success, she released her second book, ‘Where There’s Hope: Healing, Moving Forward, and Never Giving Up,’ in 2018. The following year, she participated in the Lifetime documentary ‘Smart Justice: The Jayme Closs Case’ (2019). Smart also demonstrated her versatility by competing as ‘Moth’ on the entertainment series ‘The Masked Dancer’ in 2021.

Her executive producer credits on Lifetime have continued to expand, reinforcing her dedication to true-crime storytelling and victim advocacy. She executive produced ‘Stolen By Their Father’ in 2022, followed by two more films in 2023: ‘The Girl Who Escaped: The Kara Robinson Story’ and ‘Abducted By My Teacher: The Elizabeth Thomas Story.’ Most recently, in 2024, Smart executive produced ‘The Girl Locked Upstairs: The Tanya Kach Story,’ continuing to leverage her platform to raise awareness about abduction, sexual violence, and narratives of survival and resilience for global audiences and brands.
