Born in Michigan, Ellen Hollman was raised in an artistic household by her father, Hart Hollman, a violist for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and her mother, Julie, a master pianist. Immersed in classical music and the arts from a young age, she developed an interest in performance. In her teenage years, Hollman moved to New York City to pursue acting, where she trained at various acting studios. In 2004, she relocated to Los Angeles, quickly securing her first acting roles within a year.
Hollman gained wider recognition for her role as Saxa in the Starz series “Spartacus: Vengeance” (2012) and “Spartacus: War of the Damned” (2013), a role that showcased her jiu-jitsu background. Her proficiency in martial arts also led to significant roles such as recurring antagonist Amelia Parsons on “NCIS: New Orleans” (2018-2019) and Zypher on AMC’s “Into the Badlands” (2015). Her film credits include appearing alongside Keanu Reeves in “The Matrix Resurrections” (2021) as Echo, as well as roles in “Love and Monsters” (2020) and “Army of One” (2020), where she also served as a producer and writer.
