Emma Caulfield

Born Emma Chukker on April 8, 1973, in San Diego, California, Emma Caulfield began her acting journey by studying drama at the La Jolla Playhouse and the Old Globe Theatre, where she was recognized with the ‘Excellence in Theatre Arts’ honor. She continued her theatrical education at The American School in Switzerland (TASIS) in London. Her professional career gained momentum in 1995 with a recurring role as Susan Keats on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” appearing in thirty episodes until 1996. Following this, she took on the recurring role of Lorraine Miller in “General Hospital” from 1997 to 1998, further solidifying her presence in television.

Caulfield’s career reached a significant milestone in 1999 when she joined the cast of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” as Anyanka, later known as Anya. Initially a guest demon-of-the-week character, her portrayal garnered strong audience reception, leading creator Joss Whedon to promote her to a full-time series regular. She appeared in 81 episodes of the acclaimed supernatural drama between 1998 and 2003, earning a Cinescape Genre Face of the Future Award and a Satellite Award nomination. In 2003, she starred in the supernatural horror film “Darkness Falls,” which opened at number one at the U.S. box office. Her filmography also includes the independent sci-fi/rom-com “Timer” (2009), where she played the central character Oona Leary, and the ensemble indie film “Telling of the Shoes” (2014) as Alex. She received a Best Actress award at the Beverly Hills Short Film Festival for her role as Sarah in the short film “Hollow” (2007).

Beyond acting, Caulfield has demonstrated her talents as a writer and producer. In August 2009, she co-launched the web comic “Contropussy” with Camilla Ransten, a female-driven satire. She also co-created, executive produced, and starred in the web series “Bandwagon: The Series” (2010), following her co-executive producer role in the 2004 film “Bandwagon.” Her recent television work includes recurring roles as Emma Bradshaw in “Life Unexpected” (2010–2011), the Blind Witch in “Once Upon a Time” (2012–2016), Cameron Chase in “Supergirl” (2016), Tracy Otto in “Fear the Walking Dead” (2017), and Sarah Proctor/Dottie Jones in “WandaVision” (2021). She reprised the role of Dottie in the spin-off “Agatha All Along” (2024) and is currently filming “Heavy Hitters.” Caulfield publicly disclosed her diagnosis with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2022, having been diagnosed in 2010.
