Emmanouil Zerdevas

Emmanouil Zerdevas was born on August 12, 1997, in Athens, Greece, and has become a prominent figure in international water polo. Standing at 1.85 meters and weighing 77 kg, he serves as a goalkeeper. Zerdevas’s career began with Vouliagmeni, where he played from 2015 to 2018, contributing to the team’s Greek Cup victory in the 2016–17 season. His strong performances earned him recognition, including the Greek Championship Goalkeeper of the Year award in the 2016–17 season.

In 2019, Zerdevas transferred to Olympiacos, a move that marked a significant advancement in his club career. With Olympiacos, he has achieved considerable success domestically, securing multiple Greek Championships (2018–19, 2019–20, 2020–21, 2021–22, 2022–23, 2023–24), Greek Cups (2018–19, 2019–20, 2020–21, 2021–22, 2022–23, 2023–24), and Greek Super Cups (2018, 2019, 2020). He also played a key role in Olympiacos reaching the LEN Champions League runners-up position in the 2018–19 season. His individual accolades continued with another Greek Championship Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2020–21.

Internationally, Zerdevas represents Greece, where he has consistently performed at a high level. He participated in the 2017 World Aquatics Championships, where Greece placed 4th, and the 2019 World Aquatics Championships, where they finished 7th. A significant milestone in his career was winning a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics as part of the Greek men’s water polo team, and he was recognized as the Olympic Tournament Goalkeeper of the Tournament. He also earned a bronze medal at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships and a silver medal at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships, where he was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament and was included in the World Championship Team of the Tournament. Furthermore, he secured a silver medal at the 2018 Mediterranean Games and a bronze medal at the 2020 FINA Men’s Water Polo World League. He also contributed to the team that won gold at the 2017 Youth World Championship.
