Emo Philips is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer known for his distinctive persona and extensive body of work in comedy, film, and television. After his album E=mo², recorded live at Caroline’s in Manhattan, won the 1985 New Music Award for Best Comedy Album, Emo Philips went on to cement his reputation as a formidable joke writer. Praised by fellow comedians such as Jay Leno, who called him ‘the best joke writer in America,’ Philips established a unique comedic style characterized by a fidgety, nervous, and highly intelligent persona, delivered in a modulated falsetto voice.
