About

Born in Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey, on October 11, 1968, Jane Krakowski entered the entertainment industry at an early age. Her lineage includes Polish descent from her father and French-Canadian and Scottish ancestry from her mother, a college theater instructor. Krakowski’s career began with commercial work and her feature film debut at 14 in the 1983 comedy “National Lampoon’s Vacation” as Cousin Vicki Johnson. She then transitioned to daytime television, featuring in the NBC soap opera “Search for Tomorrow” from 1984 to 1986, which earned her two Daytime Emmy Award nominations. Her early stage career included originating the role of Dinah the Dining Car in the 1987 Broadway production of “Starlight Express.” Her performance in the 1989 Broadway musical “Grand Hotel” as Flaemmchen led to her first Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

Krakowski’s career progressed with significant roles in both television and film. From 1997 to 2002, she portrayed Elaine Vassal in the Fox comedy-drama “Ally McBeal,” receiving a Golden Globe Award nomination for her performance. She took on the role of Betty Rubble in the 2000 film “The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas.” Her theatrical achievements continued, earning her a Tony Award, a Drama Desk Award, and an Outer Critics Circle Award in 2003 for her role as Carla Albanese in the Broadway revival of “Nine.” Her performance was particularly noted for an aerial stunt during the song “A Call from the Vatican.” In 2005, she earned a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Miss Adelaide in the West End revival of “Guys and Dolls.”

From 2006 to 2013, Krakowski achieved widespread recognition as Jenna Maroney in the NBC satirical comedy series “30 Rock,” earning four Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Following this, she reunited with Tina Fey for the Netflix comedy series “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” from 2015 to 2020, where she played Jacqueline White, which garnered her another Primetime Emmy Award nomination. Her recent work includes hosting the Fox reboot of “Name That Tune” since 2021 and starring as The Countess/Bobbie Flanagan in the musical comedy series “Schmigadoon!” from 2021 to 2023. She has also continued her stage work, including a run as Marianne Brink in “Here We Are” in London in 2025 and an upcoming role as Mary Todd Lincoln in “Oh, Mary!” on Broadway from October 2025 to January 2026.
