Eoghan McDermott

Eoghan McDermott is an Irish television and radio presenter, known for his dynamic presence across various media platforms. After expanding his reach into the UK television market in September 2013 by fronting the reality series Celebrity Super Spa for Channel 5, Eoghan McDermott built a diverse career across Irish and international media platforms. McDermott first gained recognition in television as a fluent Irish speaker, presenting the music program POP4 on TG4, before taking on the lead role of Pete in the TG4 youth drama Seacht. His early television credits also included presenting Frenemies for RTÉ2 and Immeal Geall for BBC Northern Ireland, demonstrating his versatility in both English and Irish language productions.

In November 2012, he co-presented a series of The Movie Show on RTÉ2, further cementing his presence in Irish broadcasting. McDermott’s radio career began at SPIN 1038 in Dublin in 2009 before he moved to the UK in 2011 to host the Drivetime show on XFM. His program was syndicated to XFM Manchester and earned him a ‘Best Newcomer’ nomination in the national commercial radio awards. The Guardian newspaper further recognized his XFM Drivetime show in April 2012 as the best of its genre in the UK.

He has also actively engaged in mental health advocacy, delivering talks across Ireland and producing a video for Pieta House on self-harm in 2014. RTÉ confirmed his departure from 2FM in March 2021 after his contract expired, marking the close of a significant chapter in his extensive broadcast career.
