The wonderful creative filmmaker Wes Anderson is a director, producer, and writer best known for his eccentric and visually unique narrative styles. His movies include The Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Isle of Dogs, and the Oscar-winning The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Anderson started making movies as a child using his father’s Super 8 camera. He attended the University of Texas at Austin to study philosophy and there met his future collaborator, Owen Wilson. After graduating he began to pursue a career as a filmmaker, and made Bottle Rocket in 1996, which starred Owen and Luke Wilson. But it was his second movie, Rushmore, which was released in 1998 that proved to be his breakout success, doing well at both the box-office and with the critics, and going on to become a cult classic. It also launched its star Bill Murray as a respected actor.
Anderson’s next movie, The Royal Tenenbaums, starred Gene Hackman, Anjelica Houston, and Ben Stiller, and was again a huge success, and helped to mark Anderson out as one of the greatest modern filmmakers. He has since made a number of equally successful and acclaimed movies, including The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Moonrise Kingdom, and the Oscar-winning The Grand Budapest Hotel, as well as the stop-motion animations Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Isle of Dogs
